1 post - 1 participant Read full topic”

  • “Feature Request: Let ChatGPT Retrieve Original Messages From Earlier in Long Conversations. I would like to suggest a feature that I think could significantly improve ChatGPT’s accuracy and usefulness in long-running conversations. The problem In a long ChatGPT conversation, the user can manually scroll upwards and read messages from much earlier in the conversation. However, ChatGPT itself does not always appear to have equivalent access to every original message when the conversation becomes very long. Instead, older information may no longer be present in the model’s immediate context, or ChatGPT may have to rely on summarized/contextual information rather than the exact original messages. This can cause accuracy problems when exact historical information is important. A real example I recently had a long conversation with ChatGPT in which we were compiling a list of items I had purchased at a car boot sale and recording the price I paid for each item. There were many messages, photographs, individual purchases and subsequent corrections to prices. Later, I asked ChatGPT to produce an overall list of everything I had purchased. ChatGPT remembered the beginning and later parts of”
