What people are saying Observed

  • “It's fun when you find an actual new boundary and capability that you wanted to build, and the abstraction is clean, and then you materialize it into existence. It's awful when the boundary breaks down. It might just be inherit to the loop (no mind readers) but I will walk away from an AI task for 30 minutes and all too frequently there will be insane code smells. I've been doing a thing where I will have "integration" projects between many different subsystems to demonstrate some capability, test it, then destroy the integration folder, folding back what we learned into the subsystems themselves. So far this has been OK for learning and it incentivizes the AI to not throw garbage everywhere. Of course, this assumes you get subsystems right but it prevents direct reaching into them and modifying excessively - try to do the most you can with fixed interfaces, etc.”

  • “Obligatory - everyone should try Pi. I've been using it since I came across it via the excellent https://stencil.so/blog/the-harness-problem blog in December. After being a Claude-hater for the last few months, frustrated with weird verbosity and slow churning response, not to mention dealing with a full-organisations worth of shared skills and giant CLAUDE.md docs slowing everything down - super-light Pi is a delight. Even still, I normally delete every package, skill and agent.md and start configuring again when a new class of model (Astra/Fable/5.5) comes out - I get amazing results with Kimi K3 in Pi. I really really love pi lol. Other than quite liking Codex desktop now... I also recommend everyone tries building a harness of some sort. Vercel Eve is really fun to play with if you have a Vercel account and consider that a type of harness, or at the very least build a control-plane/UI for a harness on top of the Pi RPC SDK which is incredible. I personally have a custom web ui powered by diffs.com and drag and drop "pipelines", where I can orchestrate steps instead of skills (although they're basically skills) + custom comp”

  • “I work with different AI coding tools, including codex, Claude,, Opencode, cursor, and others. Also, I work on several projects under different folders. This makes managing skills, AGENTS.md files, MCPs so hard. I'm not sure what is installed where. Also, agents create memory files nowadays with instructions that I find misleading, so i wanna read and edit these memory files occasionally. Thats why I created a tool with proper UI to manage all of these. Opensource and local, check it out at: https://github.com/mjalalimanesh/skillhub-local”

  • GitHub · Free $0 USD per month · Team $4 USD per user/month · complaints: Steep learning curve for beginners, Complexity in managing large repositories, Limited features in the free tier
  • GitLab · Free $0 per user/month, No credit card required · complaints: User interface can be overwhelming, Performance issues with large projects, Limited third-party integrations compared to GitHub
  • Jupyter Notebook · Free · complaints: Not ideal for large projects, Dependency management can be tricky, Limited collaboration features
  • Visual Studio Code · Free · complaints: Can become slow with too many extensions, Steep learning curve for advanced features, Occasional bugs with updates
  • Slack · Free tier, $6.67/user/mo for Pro · complaints: Can be distracting with constant notifications, Limited features in the free tier, Search functionality can be lacking

There is a lack of a dedicated solution that seamlessly integrates multiple AI coding tools while providing efficient file management and collaboration features tailored specifically for developers. Existing tools either focus on version control, project management, or communication, but none effectively address the confusion and inefficiency caused by managing multiple tools and their associated files.
